Jesus, We Have No Wine!

Below is one of my devotionals, written as a letter from Jesus to those of us in desperate need of an encouraging word.  What better than a hand-written letter from a Friend?    This devotional is what came to mind when I sit here in the Hilo Medical Center, helpless to help my son's headaches go away...

Dear Friend,
My mother came to Me at Cana during a family wedding with a big problem—the wedding party had run out of wine. This trouble was both an enormous embarrassment and a great disgrace to the wedding hosts. My mother came to Me saying, “There is no wine!” I replied that it was not My time; it was not My concern. And My mother’s response? Well, she turned to the wedding servants and said, “Do whatever He tells you.” My mother’s instructions to the servants was to come to Me, listen to whatever I told them to do, and trust Me to know exactly what to do.
(John 2:3-5)
Oh! My mother would tell you the same today. Come to Me and do what I ask you to do. Listen to Me; follow Me. As My mother, she fully trusted Me as her son—a son who would help his mama when she asked. As a woman of faith, she fully trusted Me as God—confident I could do the impossible. As her son, I could not have done anymore than any other guest, but as God, I could do anything. (Mark 10:27) And Mother knew. And she trusted.
I ask that you model her behavior.  She came to Me, she asked in confidence for Me to do something, and she submitted to My way as the best way. Say to Me, “I have no wine!” (I have no way out, I have no idea how to make things work, I have no strength, I have no solution)
I responded to My mother’s faith even before I thought it was My time to respond. I always respond to faith! Always!
Love, Jesus
A little deeper still…
When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”Mark 2:5
Jesus said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”Luke 7:50
